TOMMY
BIONDO
Updated Bio (2008)
After playing with several
bands during high school on the south side of Chicago, Tommy Biondo first went
on the road with the progressive rock group "Abby", playing keyboards. His
first big break into the Chicago area club scene was in 1977, playing bass and
singing with the "Ants", a rock group that took the Midwest club scene by storm.
In 1978, his bass guitar playing and backup singing made him a popular and
welcome addition to the "Theatre" band, touring Michigan, Illinois, Indiana,
Wisconsin and Florida. Signing with Spirit Records, the band's album
'Diamonds' was recorded and released in 1980, which played extensively over
Midwest radio stations. Biondo's song 'I'm Just Gonna Go Away' was one of
the most requested songs. When the "Theatre" band disbanded, Biondo played
blues and rock for several years in the Chicago area with various musicians
under the tutelage of Sopro Music/Sopro Records. His deep, gritty singing
voice is legendary among the Chicago club scene. For the past 14 years,
Biondo had been part of the "Stevie Starlite" trio, playing bass and singing.
This band, was renowned all over the Chicago area for its infamous, irreverent
lyrics and hard driving rock n' roll. Over the years, the Biondo has
played in have opened up for such world renowned acts as "The Police", "April
Wine", "Rick Springfield", "Paul Revere & The Raiders", "Jan & Dean",
"Steppenwolf" and "Savoy Brown". Along with his own bands, Biondo has also
recorded on projects in Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles with the
bands "Dirty Blonde", "Tattoo", "Scraps", "EZ-Ryder", "The Sopro All Stars" and
his own presently working rock band "The Wrong Boys". Tommy Biondo's long
standing music career is still moving on as he continues to rock and entertain
throughout the Chicago and Midwest music scenes with his talented original song
writing, bass performances and his trademark vocals.
