Band leader Gene Strentz has been performing since he was a young turk guitar slinger teenager and his magnificent guitar playing continues to leave the listeners and his legions of dedicated fans spellbound every time he picks up one of his vintage guitars and mesmerizes audiences during every performance. Gene is the consumate guitar technician and his trade mark 'hammer-on' guitar technique is always amazing to watch and hear. A true, professional guitarist equal to the great legendary guitarist of our time equalling the performances of Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Peter Townsend, Jimi Hendrix and a host of others to numerous to mention. 'The Axmaster' as he is respectfully called by his associates will go down in Chicago and America's Rock History as one of the great, locally and nationally known guitar greats.

Guitarist Phil Miller has been a main stay performer for over 30 years in Chicago, the Mid-West and the Nation and has played with some of the top club and top national acts throughout his stellar music career. Phil's guitar playing to date is always absolutely perfect and his trademark steller performances are standard for this outstanding guitar player night after night and year after year. Phil's slide-guitar technique is copied by many but performed with perfection, as he does, by few. When Phil kicks the band into Joe Walsh's 'Rocky Mountain Way' you can close your eyes and step back into the past and you'll surely feel the karma of Phil's powerful guitar presence reaching back into time and bringing past guitar performances right into your face in the present time and place. Together Phil Miller and Gene Strentz on stage together kick out a dazzeling display of guitar virtuoso's. Thier machine gun guitar licks and uncompromising guitar rhythms are the staple and wonderful sounds of perfection that these two guitar greats bring to the stage every time they perform. Only the top flight rhythm section of Drummer Bo Pallisard and Bassist Jody Lee can perform with Gene and Phil with the total professionalism and consumate playing abilities that is needed for Short Cuts to be the great band that they are. Bo's dynamic drumming continues to amaze audiences with his driving back beat and his dynamic drum and cymbal combinations fill the stage with his heralded drum tones show after show and night after night. Jody's thundering Bass Tones are the driving force behind the wall of sound that Bo, Gene and Phil create during live performaces. Jody's Bass performances never fails to be the well placed anchor of the Short Cuts sound. Jody's giant-sized powerful stage presence and thundering Bass foundation is the cornerstone of the Sound and the Power of Short Cuts. All of the Short Cuts band members take a part in the vocal performances and presentations of the band. Each band member, Gene, Phil, Jody and Bo all sing lead vocals at one time or the other during their shows and they all share in background harmonies during every performance. Vocal harmonies are probably the most sought after aspect of any rock and roll band. The vocal harmonies of Short Cuts will cut you to the bone like a razor blade at times and then will carress your heart and soul like a velvet glove at other times. With this beautiful cacaphony of vocal experience, Short Cuts will leave you breathless one moment and blown away with rocking power vocals the next moment.
